On the roads of Mumbai it was spotted the small car from Volkswagen , the Up! While a few thought this encounter might be due to the rigorous tests conducted by the auto major before its launch at the 2012 Auto Expo, then they are certainly mistaken. Moreover, if the rumors are to be believed, the auto major is still mulling over the launch of the most awaited hatchback ironically in India. Volkswagen apparently, is finding it difficult to place the Volkswagen Up! Price competitively for India. Rs 3- Rs 4 lakhs is the margin reserved for the Volkswagen Up! Right from the start based on the hints the auto major had been throwing.

But, that seems to be far from reality to see it happening especially in the Indian market. While the European market on the other hand have high plans in store for the small car. The sub four meter length hatchback hold a great appeal in the indian car market and the economic price tag with the Volkswagen brand value would be an icing on the cake. The demand for the small cars in the Indian car industry has instigated the thoughts in Volkswagen to introduce the small car in the country.

Car manufacturers like GM, Hyundai most recently have seen some good sales with their respective Chevrolet Beat and Hyundai Eon.Maruti Alto is another example which shook the car industry with its success. Volkswagen Up! is again such car to offer a comfortable seating arrangement for four passengers. While there is an absolute lack of clarity on the Volkswagen Up! launch, Volkswagen India might as well showcase the new Beetle at the 2012 Auto Expo.
